Body Language “Tempoture”

…Body Language (@body_language)?  It’s always a good sign when Style Etoile loves all of a band’s songs so much we have a hard time deciding which to post.  Such is the case with Brooklyn quartet Body Language.  We have had our eyes on these guys for a while now and after hearing some tracks off of their upcoming nine song EP Social Studies (out October 18th), we knew we could no longer keep them to ourselves.  These guys are making disco-y, synth-y, get-your-groove-on tracks that remind us of an Animal Collective/Passion Pit/Vampire Weekend hybrid.  Style Etoile can’t wait to bust a move at their November 18th Bowery Ballroom with Keep Shelly in Athens—do yourselves a favor and join us…

Gauntlet Hair “Keep Time”

…Gauntlet Hair?  As we creep up on one of Style Etoile’s favorite events of the year, CMJ, we are getting more and more excited for all of the amazing emerging acts that lie in our near future.  Gauntlet Hair fall into this category.  Gauntlet Hair is not subtle.  They are joyous and excited and no-holes-barred, and we love them for it.  The above track “Keep Time” is the first song off of their debut album Top Bunk (out October 18th).  The band’s explosive, uplifting sound reminds us of a cross between The Killers and Passion Pit, and we can’t wait to see them at the Reverb party on the 22nd

why aren’t you listening to . . . Capital Cities

why aren’t you listening to . . .

. . . Capital Cities (@capitalcities)? In honor of the long weekend, Style Etoile presents one of the frontrunners for the 2011 Song of Summer title. “Safe and Sound” is the lead track off of Capital Cities‘ eponymous debut EP. These guys are offering up the perfect sound for a summer hit—indie electro synth (think Kids-era MGMT, Passion Pit, Foster the People)—and we love it. This LA-based duo is offering up the dance-pop without apologies and Style Etoile is keeping our fingers crossed they bring their grooves to our coast sometime soon . . .

why aren’t you listening to . . . Jonsi

why aren’t you listening to . . .

. . . Jonsi (@iamjonsi)?Maybe you have heard the above track by Sigur Ros frontman Jonsi Birgisson, but we don’t really care. Because it is just that good. In fact, every song on Jonsi’s 2010 album Go is perfection, and the album as a cohesive unit is soundtrack-of-your-life perfection. This is uplifting, complex, beautiful, twinkly stuff that sounds like Bjork meets Sigur Ros meets Passion Pit. Hard to imagine? Just do yourself a favor and take a listen—everything will be illuminated, in more ways than one.
