We Are Augustines “Chapel Song”

…We Are Augustines (@weareaugustines)?  We are mad.  Furious, even.  The source of our anger?  The fact that we just discovered We Are Augustines (thanks Blackraptor)—a full month AFTER they hit CMJ.  How have we not heard of these guys before?  They make the kind of catch-y, unique, earnest, gravel-y, blues-y rock and roll that we love to love—think Frightened Rabbit meets Arcade Fire meets The Black Keys—and we are furious we didn’t get to see their magic live.  Brooklyn’s We Are Augustines is Billy McCarthy and Eric Sanderson (formerly of Pela).  They released their debut album Rise Ye Sunken Ships this summer and each song on it is better than the last…

why aren’t you listening to . . . Wonderful

why aren’t you listening to . . .

. . . Wonderful (@wonderful_music)? We have to hand it to them—these guys are pretty self-aware, as is witnessed by their superior naming skills. The band is Wonderful, the album is called Wake Up To Dreamland, and the above song title is “Rainbow Colors.” This band is truly wonderful, and when their album is playing, we really do feel like we are in some sort of a dreamland—one that is lush and happy and bright and filled with all of the colors of the rainbow. These guys sound like a tropical Arcade Fire, and we really can’t get enough of them—take a listen for yourself and be prepared to be transported to a Wonderful place (pun intended).

why aren’t you listening to . . . Spector

why aren’t you listening to . . .

. . . Spector (@bloodroyale)? It’s Wednesday and Style Etoile is here with a little anthemic rock to push us over the hump. Spector is a young London quintet and yes, they are named after the (in)famous producer. The lads are making ambitious tracks that swell and shift and get inside you and make you happy. Their sound is a cross between The Killers and Arcade Fire and we always get great feedback when we throw this on at a party. Their new release comes out June 20th, but you can go ahead and stream it here . . .
