why aren’t you listening to…

Body Language “Tempoture”

…Body Language (@body_language)?  It’s always a good sign when Style Etoile loves all of a band’s songs so much we have a hard time deciding which to post.  Such is the case with Brooklyn quartet Body Language.  We have had our eyes on these guys for a while now and after hearing some tracks off of their upcoming nine song EP Social Studies (out October 18th), we knew we could no longer keep them to ourselves.  These guys are making disco-y, synth-y, get-your-groove-on tracks that remind us of an Animal Collective/Passion Pit/Vampire Weekend hybrid.  Style Etoile can’t wait to bust a move at their November 18th Bowery Ballroom with Keep Shelly in Athens—do yourselves a favor and join us…

why aren’t you listening to . . . Pogo

why aren’t you listening to . . .

. . . Pogo (@pogomix)? Pogo is a mixmaster from Down Under, and we can’t get enough of his tracks created through the samples of music and vocals from films. This is dance-y, ethereal stuff that sounds like a cross between NewVillager and Animal Collective, and Style Etoile is more than a little impressed with this 22-year old’s creativity and talent (not to mention his dreamy looks). Pogo has a pretty impressive catalogue of mixes, and we have yet to hear one we haven’t liked . . .

why aren’t you listening to . . . Avey Tare

why aren’t you listening to . . .

. . . Avey Tare? Avey Tare is David Michael Portner, one of the founding members of Animal Collective. The Brooklyn native’s late 2010 release Down There was pretty brilliant—with Portner’s ethereal voice echoing behind catchy hooks, moving bass, and strategically placed glitches. And while Style Etoile loves ourselves some Animal Collective, we hope we get to hear some more of Avey Tare’s solo work in the near future . . .
