Postiljonen “On the Run”
…Postiljonen (@Postiljonen)? Well isn’t this just a breath of fresh air? Style Etoile would like nothing more than to be warmly wrapped in the beautiful, dreamy, electronic tapestries created by Scandinavia’s Postiljonen. Their lushly emotive sound reminds us of M83, Air France, and College and we see big things in their future. The group’s full length Skyer drops next month and if first singles “On the Run” and “Supreme” are any indication, we are in for a real winner. Postiljonen only has tour dates in Sweden for the time being, but we will let you know the minute this talented trio is set to land stateside…
Disclosure “F For You”
…Disclosure (@disclosure)? It may be pouring outside, but with Disclosure blaring in our headphones, Style Etoile is seeing nothing but sun. The British duo just dropped their first full length and man, is it good. The brothers are making synth-y nu-discu with killer basslines and beautiful vocals—think Hercules and Love Affair meets James Blake. Disclosure has just announced a summer US tour and you better believe Style Etoile will be front and center for their August 6th show in Central Park.
We completely understand that the constant highs and lows in temperature, the heat waves and thunderstorms, are enough to make any fashion gal go mad about keeping their closets in seasonal order. Don’t let the rainy showers put a damper on your weekend wardrobe! We have the perfect piece to complete your weekend look!
Leather is IN this season, especially leathers of the vest variety, which is why we had to have this Sahara leather vest from Ashley B’s spring collection. Yes, it does look like a normal vest to the untrained eye but if you take a closer look, you will notice that the crepe de chine sleeves are REMOVABLE! How brills can one designer be?
Style Star Tip: When looking for the perfect leather jacket and/or vest, make sure that it is classic, comfortable and most importantly can be worn every season! After all, this is a major investment for any style stars wardrobe.
The Sahara leather vest from Ashley B allows you to be ready for the heat or the cold, with a built in day-to–night look, all in one piece! So sport your sleeves during the day and zip them off at night and keep them comfortably tucked away in your purse. We can’t get enough of this 2-in-1 piece!
Need something to finish off your look with your crisp new leather jacket? Try pairing the Hollywood racer tank with the Venice maxi skirt, both from De Lacy’s spring collection, and then top it off with the Ashley B. Sahara leather vest. Complete your look with killer kicks and a clutch of your choice and you are sporting a versatile Style Star look!
Matt Corby “Resolution”
…Matt Corby (@Matt_Corby)? Well, it’s already June and that means it’s officially Glastonbury month! Today Style Etoile brings you one of the acts we can’t wait to catch—Aussie Matt Corby. Corby has just released a new song, Revolution, and man is it beautiful. Corby’s smooth folk reminds us of James Vincent McMorrow with a hint of Bon Iver and we could stare into those dreamy eyes for days. Go here to grab some free tunes.
…Smallpools (@smallpools)? Happy Memorial Day! What could be more appropriate for a day spent lounging around the pool than a band called Smallpools? This LA quartet is providing Style Etoile with the perfect soundtrack to this summer day and we couldn’t help but share the love. These guys remind us of a cross between Passion Pit and The Naked and Famous and, man are they catchy. Go here for a free download—you’re welcome.
Summer is slowly creeping upon us and you know what that means, it’s time for a transition mission. As Memorial Day weekend nears we get amped up with possibilities of new romance, bonfires on the beach, road trips, awesome weekend adventures and killer threads. While the blazing summer sun scorches our bronze beach bods during the day, what does one wear at night?
Run, don’t walk, to your walk-ins and pull the following staples from your wardrobe: a killer leather jacket, a variety of sexy summer maxi dresses, and a fun tuxedo vest. Why? Because this combo is perfect for layering and an ideal way to transition your look from daytime to nighttime in just minutes!
While temperatures are certainly rising during the day sport this sassy burnt orange maxi dress by Nombre and match it back to this killer tuxedo vest by SMYTHE. Complete your look with a espadrille or wedge of your choice. Come nightfall our bare bodies will start to feel that seasonal chill in the air. While all of the other gals at the resto are freezing, you will be layering your tuxedo vest over a leather jacket, like this essential perforated sleeve piece from IRO, for a serious yet sexy look. Always remember that layering is crucial to any look so make sure you try a few different pieces before you commit to your summer staples. Are you excited for summer to come? We most certainly are and we can’t wait to see what everyone will be rocking this season!
Style Star Tip: Make sure you pick a comfortable and versatile wedge because these bad boys will become your summer sneaker for the next 4 months. Think of this task as a smart investment for your feet!
Magic Man “Noca Scotia”
…Magic Man (@magicman)? YES. This is exactly what we needed today. To know Style Etoile is to know we have a love for all things post-punk that combine the urges to simultaneously dance and cry. Magic Man has our number. This Rhode Island quintet was just signed to Columbia/Neon Gold and with catchy hooks that remind us of New Order and Wild Nothing, we can see why.
The Colourist “Little Games”
…The Colourist (@thecolourist)? Happy Monday—let’s start the week off right. Today Style Etoile gives you The Colourist—an Orange County quartet making catchy, uplifting indie dance tunes. The Colourist first caught our attention when St. Lucia gave their “Little Games” single the remix treatment and we’ve been hooked ever since. These guys were one of our favorite parts of Coachella and we can’t wait to catch them tonight at Santos Party House. Enjoy.
Mother’s Day is here and every year we run out in search of the perfect card and gift for moms. How else can we express our gratitude and deep love for our mother’s? What does one get the hero of our blossoming childhood, the very woman who always believed in us when we were down, nursed us back to health when we were sick, the woman that will always unconditionally love us no matter what the circumstance is?
Finding the perfect present is always a difficult task for many and we are here to guide you in the right direction. Any mom will really appreciate a present that shows you really know and love her for who she really is.
If your mom is young and funky she may just fall in love with the Electric Blue Flower crown from Cult Gaia or the Herero Headdress Cuff by THE BASE PROJECT. Does she like dainty gems or trinkets filled with things that make her smile? The Lindsay Vallan Clover and Elephant Pave Wrap may be more up her alley. If she is simple and classic, but still wants to make a statement, the Melanie Auld Turquoise or black diamond necklace will captivate her attention. No matter what, StyleStar, we have you covered at Style Etoile!
…Juveniles (@juvinilesband)? Style Eoile might have overindulged a little on Cinco de Mayo, but thanks to the nu-disco synth-pop goodness provided by Juveniles, instead of missing a beat, we are dancing to one. The French duo has just released “Fantasy,” the first single off their forthcoming (later this year) album and it is a real shaker. Juveniles reminds us of Hercules and Love Affair when Antony Hegarty (Antony and the Johnsons) is involved–this is studio 54 disco with a synth beat and goth vocals. Get it and get happy.
